Beat Winter Blues & Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) with
NASA Light Therapy Treatment available at Carter Beauty
Feeling tired, lethargic or low? Don't brush off the "winter blues" as a seasonal funk, that you have to tough out. One in four of us are affected by winter blues or Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and women are far more likely to be diagnosed with SAD than men. Caused by decreased levels of serotonin resulting from reduction in sunlight, symptoms can begin around October peaking from December through to February, when days are shortest. Symptoms of SAD include tiredness, lethargy, low mood, sleeping problems, irritability and even increased winter appetite or cravings for carbohydrates and sweet foods.
A new Light Therapy is available from Carter beauty which has been shown to be highly effective in treating SAD disorder. According to Marissa Carter, Owner of Carter Beauty “Using technology initially developed by NASA scientists, this L.E.D Light Therapy is an innovative treatment and one of the most effective and drug-free way to diminish S.A.D.”. Using "Light Emitting Diodes" L.E.D Light Therapy penetrates the skin’s layers and stimulates the pituitary gland, responsible for producing serotonin, the hormone that provides the ‘feel good’ factor. L.E.D Light Therapy does not emit any UV light and so is completely safe too.
L.E.D Light Therapy is a comfortable and highly relaxing experience. Clients lie on a bed while the therapeutic light is applied. Treatments are described as easy, even relaxing, but most importantly, safe and painless. After a consultation with a Carter Beauty therapist a treatment plan based on the individual clients needs will be developed. Typically, L.E.D Light Therapy treatments are given once a week and last 30m minutes. Users will experience instant results and will leave Carter Beauty with a spring in their step and enjoy a deep and restful night’s sleep
For the two million people in the UK and Ireland that suffer with SAD, Carter Beauty L.E.D Light therapy is an excellent treatment for reversing the effects of prolonged Irish winters so that sufferers can enjoy the winter months just as much as the summer.
L.E.D Light therapy is available from Carter Beauty and costs €50/session or €360/12 sessions Carter Beauty is based at 40 Main Street, Blackrock, Co. Dublin. wwwcarterbeauty.ie Tel: 01-2103624.
Treating Acne with Light Therapy
Frequently Asked Questions
What is it? How does it work?
The Light Therapy Treatment offers effective, non-invasive, and pain-free treatment for moderate acne vulgaris, a condition affecting millions of adults, teens, and children.
The L.E.D Light is not a laser. It emits safe, cool, visible blue light to provide an effective solution for acne removal and it works with all skin types (I-VI) even with a suntan.
What happens during a treatment?
With L.E.D Light Therapy, a typical treatment session requires approximately 30 minutes. Clients lie on a bed while the therapeutic light is applied; sometimes there is a slight warming sensation. Treatments are described as easy, even relaxing, but most importantly, safe and painless.
What are the features of L.E.D Light Therapy?
• New paradigm for acne treatment
• High-intensity, narrow spectrum blue-violet light destroys P. acnes bacteria
• Short treatment regimen: 8-10 treatments over 4-5 weeks to achieve impressive results
• No side effects, no pain, no downtime
How many treatments are required?
The therapist develops treatment plans based on individual clients needs. Typically, L.E.D Light Therapy treatments are given twice a week for 6 weeks. It is important to keep treatment appointments recommended by the therapist in order to see maximum results.
For optimum results, a maintenance treatment session once a month is recommended after completion of the initial series.
How effective is L.E.D Light Therapy?
The L.E.D Light Therapy system effectively clears 70%-90% of moderate, inflammatory acne in four weeks. Results are especially impressive when compared with conventional treatments, such as topical creams and oral antibiotics.
Will skin be blemish-free at the end of the Light Therapy Treatments?
Though the inflammation will be gone for a majority of patients, some may experience residual redness where the inflamed blemish was located. The redness will dissipate over time.
Are the results permanent?
L.E.D Light Therapy treatments usually help control acne breakouts for four to eight months; after that, occasional touch ups may be necessary.
Is L.E.D Light Therapy safe? Are there any side effects?
L.E.D Light Therapy is one of the safest acne treatments available. The system's blue-violet light penetrates just deep enough into the tissue to reach the acne target, without adversely affecting surrounding skin. L.E.D Light Therapy has no known side effects.
Do clients need to prepare their skin before coming in for a BLU-U® treatment?
Yes. The affected area should be washed with a mild acne cleanser, then rinsed with water and dried. Women should remove makeup before treatment sessions and should only wear oil-free make-up between appointments. Make-up can be re-applied immediately after a treatment session has been concluded.
What type of skincare is needed between L.E.D Light Therapy treatments?
Clients should consult with their therapist regarding the daily use of a non-irritating, anti-acne cleanser and treatment lotions. Patients should avoid touching or picking blemishes at all times.
Is there any downtime after a treatment?
Once the treatment session is over, clients can immediately return to their daily routine. This means no downtime or inconvenience, especially important factors for active teens and young adults
